DISCLAIMER - Mr Somnez will try to defend this review and say that I am a competitor or some other rubbish, like he did with me a few months ago. I’m not. I’m a start up business that was a customer of his. His other negative reviews are more than likely the truth as I’ve experienced the exact same if not worse.
When the first part of the order arrived (bootsale pallet - it cost around £1296 / £1.08 for 1200 items) - I was fully aware as per the advert, there may be some items defected or items with storage marks which I was okay with. What I wasn’t okay with nor did I expect was the pallet to arrive soaking wet. These clothes had evidently been sitting in water for ages because not only were the soaked through but also stunk of mould and it was clear to see parts of mould dotted all over at least 50% of the items.
I immediately contacted Levent, who to cut a long story short told me “what do you expect for £1.08 per item?” No accountability was taken, no apology, no acceptance of returns, replacements or refunds because that is what I accepted when buying “as per our terms and conditions”. He did however assure me this wouldn’t happen again and let me know on a separate note that I would receive the second part of my order in the coming days. It gets better so keep reading…
2 days later, he apologised and to "make things up to me" he would make a special mix of high end items where I would “double my money with ease” - textbook salesman right? I immediately replied “please do not do it, I don’t want to take a risk of stuff I’ve not ordered or asked for, I just want what I paid for as it’s my normal order and I know where I stand with it”. He didn't reply.
When I receive the order it was full of items that he had offered me 2 days ago. Leggings from an unrecognised brand (With no resale value) and numerous other items of another brand that once again, had no use to me.
He took it upon himself, (despite me saying I do not want it) to send it anyway. You could argue he was forcing it on me because he couldn’t get rid of it elsewhere.
I called him immediately, no response. I text him, no response. I called the office and emailed the office. As you can probably guess, no response. This continued for around 3 days, calling and texting with no responses whatsoever. I then decided to get legal action and inform him this is the route I want to take - would you believe he responded within minutes? Telling me that I stand no chance at legal action because I agreed his terms even though they state the buyer has every right to take legal action if goods aren’t delivered as agreed.
We did however, after a lengthy phone conversation agree that he would take back the wrong order and replace it with the correct pallet I ordered. Finally, 4 weeks after this issue had began I have got what I originally paid for but it doesn’t replace the 4 weeks that I lost out trading. The 1 star is for him rectifying an issue that was HIS fault.
I’m writing this review because as a small start up I had full trust with Top Down Trading but after this constant merry go round of utter nonsense, I wish I saw a review like this in the beginning because if I had, I wouldn’t have touched him with a bargepole, I do NOT and would never recommend him to anybody. In fact I’ve made sure that people are aware of the types of tricks he tries to pull.
I suggested that if he has no intention of sending me different stock to what I ordered in the future why don't we agree new terms which state that. He declined. I think that speaks volumes.
I’d also strongly recommend to ignore whatever tosh him or his team reply to this review, as there is nothing he can say that will defend the stance or counter the points I have made above. Work with Top Down Trading / Mr Somnez at your own risk but bare in mind he isn’t a businessman, he’s a salesman. He will do whatever he wants as long as it benefits him.
