We stayed for one night at this lovely, step back in time, hotel.
A big thank you to Rhona, one of the serving staff.
She was very friendly and spent some time speaking with us and made a sincere effort to connect. Having been in the tourist industry myself, I know how important it is for staff to spend a bit of time with customers Staff, like Rhona are the best ambassadors for the property
The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. Lots of hot water!
The history of the hotel as a military hospital was very interesting.
As a couple of tour buses had left early Sunday morning, breakfast was a bit sparse.
We talked about how it would have been nice to have stayed longer.

Stayed at The Highland hotel with a coach tour of the Highlands. The hotel is large and full of Scottish character downstairs, tartan carpets and wood panelling.||Had a single room that was a decent size for one person although a little dated and tired it was clean and met my needs.||Meals were very good and enjoyable. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice for all dietary needs. Meals in the evening were highly organised and worked well considering the coach tours that were staying and the amount of guests. Staff were helpful and charming and made the stay for me Would certainly stay again. Many thanks.

What a gem we have found on our recent trip to the Highlands in Scotland. We needed to stay for 3 nights as we were visiting relatives in nearby Dingwall. Despite looking at several B&B’s and other hotels, we decided to book the Highland Hotel in Strathpeffer. What a great decision we made. It is situated in the beautiful village of Strathpeffer, in a very prominent and convenient position, and looks like a hotel should look in our opinion , both inside and out. This is not the modern shoe box hotels that you see so many of, with the bland, functional decor and facilities to match. This is a throwback in time, a very pleasant throwback and although old, everything worked beautifully and it was spotlessly clean. We wanted for nothing, with heating, hot water, bath, shower, tea and coffee making facilities, comfy huge bed with pillows and duvet to match. We left the option open on whether we would have breakfast and dinner in the hotel, but after out first day or trying both, we continued to have both, in the hotel, for all of our stay. The staff are all incredible, friendly, helpful and informative, a credit to the Management of the hotel. |Also, the price we paid would and should embarrass a lot of B&B’s for the service and facilities we enjoyed, |A definite 5 star experience and we will be visiting again.

This was a very enjoyable stay. The staff are friendly and helpful; the food is good; the hotel is quiet and the housekeeping is of a good standard. The hotel is in the attractive village of Strathpeffer and well-situated for trips into the surrounding countryside. It is good value and the prices are reasonable. I would definitely return.

A sadly overall underwhelming experience.|There were a lot of things working against this trip so I can’t just blame the hotel. However, I do have issues with the management of the hotel. Often the staff seemed poorly trained and disinterested in helping guests. The reception was often unattended. My room was serviceable but didn’t look like it had decorated in a while. My main issue was with the dining. After a painfully long journey we we all herded straight into the dining room without being able to go to our rooms first. This is first for me. It just seemed very regimented and although the food was acceptable, the portions were too small for anyone with an appetite. More like children’s portions. It has the potential to be so much nicer than it is. Such a shame that nobody seems to care.

My partner and I had a lovely stay here last night along with our little dog. We we visiting the area for a friend's party and the hotel was recommended to us. We were greeted with a warm welcome from the manager who was very helpful with check in. The hotel itself is a beautiful Victorian grand building full of charm and period features.
The room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed for 1 night. As we had our dog with us we had our breakfast in the lounge the next morning as its dog friendly and were were given a lovely window table and had great service.
We would like mention in particular a staff member called Thomas, he was very helpful at breakfast and so welcoming to our dog. He was very interesting and knowledgeable about the hotels history and had some great stories to share with us. Every hotel should have a Thomas!
Will definitely be back

Went on a 4 night coach trip and after reading some of the good reviews was very disappointed. We arrived late(21:20) and found there was no porter service bearing in mind we're all the older end. There was no evening meal apart from a bit of Chicken and Rice neither of which my wife and 2 more of our party likes and couldn't even get a Tea or Coffee and couldn't get these in the Bar either after 17:00.As for the Bar I wanted 3 Baileys with other drinks but got the last one and this Bottle was never replaced all week after asking every night, there were 8 of us so 12 Baileys per night was lost profit. On entering our room (135) we found a knife and Butter in a drawer and the Duvet had a disgusting looking large brown patch on it although it was an iron mark you can guess what it looked like, that was sorted. The staff were ok but very young so had no people skills and were struggling, I didn't rate the Breakfast at all and thats my favourite meal personally but have to give full marks for the evening meals which were excellent every night and 2 of our party are fussy eaters. Dinner times and Breakfast times were a bit confusing and some guests misunderstood them. The Hotel is in a good location and is a beautiful building with décor to match but needs some sorting out.

Where do I start |After a 13 hour journey we arrived at the hotel quite late….. we were rushed into dinner…….. I went to the bar to get 2 glasses of wine….. after waiting about ten minutes I was served by the only person behind the bar! (3 coach loads had arrived that evening)…… the guy behind the bar advised me that he didn’t have any wine and would have to go down to the cellar to get some!!! (Really)….. he also advise the gentleman behind me that there was no draft larger!!! That was the beginning of our not so great stay here! The food was ok, a nice choice every night that you had to pre order…. Breakfast was self service but once the items had gone, they wouldn’t replenish the items and one morning there was no tea bags!!! Seriously There was no background music/ambiance in the dining room….. the staff were ok but very young! The evening entertainment was very mediocre…. A singer one night and a quiz another night….. from other coach trips we have been on, this has been the worst……..our room was serviceable but small and had a bad aroma…..I wouldn’t ever come back to this hotel again!
