Portland: Gateway to Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral. Stonehenge was a two hour bus 🚌 ride from Portland. High on my bucket đŸĒŖ list, it met all expectations, misitical, surreal, and an almost out of body experience. Their on a Tuesday with thousands of others, still seemed very personal. They had figured out how to handle the crowds. 5 minute bus ride to Stonehenge from the gift shop and parking lot. Even the 🎁 shop with elbow to elbow people all buying something flowed nicely with 6 registers.

Security is serious, can't walk around port. We were on cruise ship transportation was arranged. Serenaded by band and cannon salute as we were leaving port. Great experience as everyone kind helping us get to local museums. Shuttle Bus drivers were great! Jurassic coast visible as we left.

Really bad experience getting off the ship. Unhelpful staff on jetty. Brilliant staff in customs building. Cruise ships should be more open about issues docking here.

You have to get a shuttle and if you are with msc they will only take you to Weymouth so if you have booked portland Castle or the d day experience you will have to get a cab at your own expense not ideal
