We recently hired McCombie for some renovation work on our home, including rebuilding our driveway wall and gateway. They were very trustworthy and accommodating to our needs. The whole team are clearly academics, very skilled at what they do and we felt safe that there would do a professional job. Since the work was completed, we have had strangers knock on our door asking who built the wall as they were impressed with the craftsmanship. Would recommend!!

McCombie have recently completed a first floor extension above our garage/kitchen. We’re really pleased with the end result, especially how the interior space worked out and the quality of the work.

I got a few quotes and McCombie were the first to come back to me with a really comprehensive quote which they took us through in detail. It took ages to get responses from everyone else but after finally receiving all the quotes we decided to go with McCombie, the price was comparable, we knew their reputation in the area and we were impressed by how responsive and approachable they were.

My main concern when going with McCombie was their open book rather than fixed quote pricing. I liked the idea of knowing that whatever happened I knew what I was paying with fixed cost. But having discussed how the open book pricing would work with Aron and team we decided to give it a go. With McCombie you only ever pay for the work and materials you’ve actually used - no large up front payments. The Team were happy to go through my invoices with me and after the first two or three weeks I felt like I could almost predict what the value of the invoice would be each week. In fact the main challenge is balancing the temptation to have more work done and staying on your budget!!!

We added a number of additional jobs on as we went through the project this is the advantage and flexibility that their model gives you.

Another really important thing I must mention is how considerate, friendly and hard working every member of the team was. Being locked in with the family during lock down is challenging enough without having building work and tradesman around but I have to say in the end they were fantastic and didn’t cause us any additional stress.

So to conclude I would highly recommend McCombie for any building project you’re considering and don’t be put off by the open book pricing model!!!

We bought our house at the begging of the year and hired McCombie Construction to do a complete renovation as it was very dated and we wanted to extend the kitchen in to the out-house and have a new bathroom fitted. They did an excellent job in all areas. They were very reliable and managed the whole project from start to finish, making it very easy and stress free for us. Best of all the had it finished in time for the birth of my first child. I would highly recommend this company to anybody wanting excellent value for money and friendly, trustworthy people working in your house.
