Really easy to use service. Tickets can be purchased on board. Nice friendly and helpful staff. Ferry service to Gourock. Regular service. Bit busier with being Easter, but didn't have to wait too long.

This is where you enter the Argyll peninsula from the gourock short ferry crossing. Hunters quay is unremarkable except for its historic Tudor Style hotel across from the ferry dock.It is a short journey by car from the quay along to Dunoon. Going in the opposite direction takes you past The Holy Loch at Sandbank on to Benmore Botanic Gdns, Loch Eck, Strachur,all the way round to Colintraive for Bute ferry, Tighnabruich and Portavadie on Loch Fyne. One of Scotland's finest sights can be seen at Kyles of Bute viewpoint just before Tighnabruich.

Enjoyed the trip. Quick on and off, regular sailings. Much nicer than going all the way round by road.
Tip: tickets are cheaper if you buy them at the local petrol station or post office beforehand.

Great ferry service. Better than the other one in town. You can buy tickets on board or buy them from the post office in Sandbank. Cheaper to buy before you board. Usually every 20 mins. Staff are friendly and helpful.

I agree with everyone who has reviewed this ferry service. It is fast, efficient and really good value for money and saves a lot of time and fuel if you are traveling to or from Edinburgh. We had a 10 minute wait, were one of the first off and a straight forward drive back to Edinburgh. Buy tickets in shop to save a little money.

Good service overall, "first arrived first on the ferry". Obviously saves a lot of time (and fuel). Funny to be in your car, but look outside and see the ocean.
As mentioned in other reviews, it is cheaper to buy tickets at dedicated agents nearby rather than at the ferry terminal or on board.

Make sure you buy your tickets from the agents, rather than on board. Look at the website there are plenty of agents around the area. We bought them from the Jet garage just outside Dunoon. Cheaper to buy a return than a single!
The ferry was half empty when we turned up and there was not ONE single car waiting. We entered the arrival area and drove to the two guys with orange vests and the obvious waiting car ferry. Very rudely the attendant asked me to use the lanes to ensure I got on the ferry.
It was empty, there were no other cars, it was an obvious thing to do IF there had been ANY other vehicles - but there wasn't.
Just a polite reminder, courtesy is free and the need to moan is very costly.
