Lovely little hotel very near to Marks Tey station. Comfortable, well-equipped rooms, a nice restaurant for breakfast, and great front desk service too! Some minor quibbles: The electricity in the room kept tripping, and we couldn’t turn off the lights in the wardrobe without everything shutting off. Also, the shower bath liquid dispenser wouldn’t reattach after falling down mid-shower. Other than that, a pleasant enough stopover. Wish parking wasn’t so expensive though!

• Lovely, friendly staff!
• Cafe close to reception, main restaurant and swimming pool just round the back of the hotel.
• Heated pool with sauna’s, separate changing rooms and gym with basic equipment.
• Nice room with comfy bed, very spacious with many lighting options. Desk for work or getting ready.
• Bathroom (which is also very spacious), is stunning, the shower is huge! Good food menu with different dishes, (room service also).
• Great stay and I would come again. 😁

Nice rooms , the staff we dealt with were very nice and very helpful. The food and service in the dining room was mediocre and Lukewarm and the whole place was lacking atmosphere. A few private functions going on which seemed to stretch the staff and were definitely given priority over general guests.

We were looking for a nice hotel to stay close to family in Lexden while attending a family funeral. While searching Delta Hotel Marks Tey came up. The hotel is located in a nice area and is less than 10 mins to our family.|We booked an Executive room for 2 nights from 30th Jan to 1st Feb. |Checkin was seamless. The reception area is tastefully decorated. The Executive room is very spacious and well equipped. Our room was cleaned during our stay and towels replaced. The staff are very nice and professional … they went above and beyond our expectation.|Breakfast was lovely… wide range of choices. You can choose to have the Buffett breakfast or have ‘made to order’ from the breakfast menu. I had Egg Benedict … it was well made and tasted delicious (I wanted my eggs well done and not runny).|We understand that this hotel used to be called Marks Tey Hotel and only been taken over by Marriott in the past couple of months. They are doing lots of refurbishment in the hotel and I’m sure everything’ll come out beautifully after the whole renovation process.|I would recommend Delta Hotels by Marriott , Marks Tey to anyone looking for a nice hotel to stay in Colchester area.

Room was spacious with good storage options though there was no safe. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The rooms can be a little hot. The air-conditioning unit was working but was rather weak.

The shower water pressure could do with a little bit more pressure but it was better than their sibling in Swindon.

The service was satisfactory. On our last day, we were due to check out at 2pm but a member of the house keeping team knocked so loud and entered the room without waiting for a response from us. This is despite having the 'Do Not Disturb' sign hanged on the door knob.

There was no real recognition for Marriott Bonvoy Elite members which is extremely disappointing.

Day staff were lovely and very accommodating. The night team could do with a bit more customer service training. The person who checked us in in the evening lacked politeness and was extremely dismissive and did not take pride or enthusiasm in his role. Not the standard you'd expect from someone to represent the Delta Hotels by Marriott brand.

Location was outstanding. The Colchester Zoo was less than a 15 minute drive away. Good road links.

Stayed here due to its proximity to Colchester. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I had an issue with my room and it was moved immediately which was great (even more so considering the size of the room I was moved to). ||The decor of the hotel is slightly dated in places. Breakfast was fine, as you would expect. Worth considering asking for a room away from the busy road the hotel backs onto. My room was very close and I was woken up on a few occasions in the night as a result. ||Overall, would recommend for an overnight stay and will be staying again should the need arise

Never before had an issue with any Mariott hotel, but not all negative.
1) they let us use the facilities before check in
2) the pool, sauna and steam room were basic. Needs to be a jacuzzi. Female changing rooms okay. Male changing rooms dirty and shower broken
3) lunch in the bar very expensive. Took nearly half an hour for 2 vegan burgers to come out. Our friends ordered chicken burgers but were given chicken curries with no cutlery. Their food didn't arrive at all so they ended up demanding a refund and had to order McDonald's.
4) executive room very spacious and decorated to a high spec. View was literally of rubbish (an overflowing skip etc). Smart TV wasn't working so we couldn't listen to music through it. A staff member randomly knocked on the door and delivered a big pile of towels, tea bags and milk packets which she called coffee (we only requested pillows which didn't arrive)
5) after returning from the wedding party we sat in the bar and they allowed us to drink our own alcohol. We also ordered food from outside and they gave us plates and sauces
6) breakfast - coffee machine only had black coffee and paper cups. Sausages, hash browns, mushrooms, beans all good. My friend asked for a latte from the Starbucks at the bar and they gave it.
