My 97 year old father (with dementia and behavioural problems) was able to walk out of the care home one morning and they didn’t know he was missing until we phoned to let them know he had turned up at my mothers house up the road. He had crossed the A6 early in the morning and goodness knows how he wasn’t run over. He then walked out of my mother’s house and disappeared. The police eventually found him soon after but he was in a state, glasses broken, very upset. We took him back to Catterall house (with the police) and the manager informed me that they were refusing to let him stay, he had to leave with immediate effect. They told me to take him to RPH and informed us that they would not care for him any longer. LITERALLY THREW HIM OUT ON THE SPOT. Washed their hands of him. I was at my wits end - my elderly mother was distressed, I was phoning social services etc trying to get some help. He did have behavioural problems with the dementia but he was NINETY SEVEN YEARS OLD!
I have never been so stressed in my life.
The poor man ended up in a dementia unit in Preston where he was assaulted and by another patient and died shortly afterwards in great distress. He was terrified. I have held back before posting any review of this place but as we are still dealing with a police investigation in to my fathers death I feel we have to speak up and tell the truth about what is happening to our elderly folk in this country. My dad was a WW2 veteran and had a horrible end to his life.
I cannot recommend this Care home for anyone with dementia.

Catterall House is such a lovely care home that has been looking after my mother for over 12 months now. All the staff are wonderful, caring people who treat each resident with love and respect. They are watchful of any resident’s wants and needs and are always on hand to speak to. My mother has thrived since she moved there and I have no worries at all about her quality of life. She always looks clean and well turned out and is happy. Cannot ask for more!

The manager is extremely rude and offensive. The inside is like a warren hole and needs proper decorations, and refurbishment, my personal opinion as my mom has been there several years. I would not recommend Catteral house.

Lol look at all these comments from the staff trying to hype it up. From what I saw in the home was pretty dire. Damp next to a residents bed, lack of support and no patience for apprentices and manager was not a friendly face to talk to. Hired when they were over staffed any way so it was a waist of time. Do not recomend.
