There are papers taped up everywhere to say that things are not working as they should.
All the self-service machines were closed (why? Their purpose is to be used without help), digital services were not available and only one employee was behind her desk.
In the end I feel lucky to have "only" queued for 45 minutes on that day.
When it's hot outside, there is no air conditioning, everyone is suffocating up there.
It's shameful for a post office in the center of the city. The management and the equipment need to be completely reviewed!

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my absolute disgust with the disgraceful level of service at the Canterbury Post Office on the High Street. It is beyond comprehension how this establishment remains operational, given the gross incompetence displayed every single time I’ve had the misfortune of visiting.

On my most recent visit, I was, once again, confronted with a queue of at least 20 people, while a single overburdened employee was left to manage the counter. This is not an isolated incident — it is a perpetual nightmare. I have endured this exact same chaos on no less than ten occasions, which demonstrates that the staff shortages and mismanagement are not occasional slip-ups, but rather the norm at this shambolic excuse for a post office.

It is abundantly clear that this location either has no respect for its customers’ time or is simply incapable of managing its own staffing schedules. If you cannot run a basic service with the minimum level of efficiency required to function, then shut the place down. Let someone who is actually competent handle what you so clearly cannot.

The level of disregard shown towards the people who rely on this service is appalling. If this is how the Post Office intends to operate, you are better off shutting your doors and allowing a competent organization to take over — one that can actually deliver a service without driving its customers to the brink of frustration every single time they set foot inside.

Do better, or get out of the way.

This is the most useless post office ever. They can close without warning at any time of the day. If you are lucky enough to find they are open then there are at most two staff on and a queue that takes forever to get through.

The staff however are always helpful and hardworking. I will give them 5 stars, but the management need to look at their staffing levels. I hate having to use this post office but usually it is the closest to work.

Absolutely terrible post office that is not fit for purpose!

They close when they like and are extremely rude to customers!

Today, the member of staff told the lady in front of me to 'shut up'.

The fact that the staff have been there since 8am is not our concern. Most people going there late are going after work.

Being told to 'go elsewhere then' is not professional. I will be making a formal complaint.

Long queue (25 people) and only one member of staff, 5 counters not in use due to single staff member. All 3 self serve terminals are also out of order. Simply not good enough. Always seems to be the case at this post office.

Staff really do there very best. They are understaffed. And mangers not pulling their weight. So all things considered 5 stars. But only because of their work force.

Too short staffed, randomly close at times in the day, the queues are extremely long, and to fast track you can use the self service machines but they are extortionate!
The staff have always been friendly on the other hand

Wow!!! I’ve never seen anyone work so hard in my life. The girl in the sunflower dress was the only person working in the main post office. All the other tills were closed. Although the queue was long, she kept her cool and her knowledge was outstanding. She processed my daughter’s DBS efficiently after having trouble last year at Faversham post office. She was sweet and helpful, yet undervalued I expect doing multiple jobs on her own. She deserves a huge pay rise and a medal. Well done that girl (sorry I didn’t catch her name)!! I will call her Star!
