Great service from these guys. They collected about 20 boxes of books and other items including porcelain and paintings, left in a will. It was a potentially difficult task due to the vulnerable nature of the person they were collecting from. They brought the items to the depot where I collected them to take to London. They helped load my van and were friendly and helpful throughout. And I felt the cost was good value.

Britannia Appleyards are, in our opinion, the best. As an International business we used Britannia to move the personal effects of our staff from New Zealand to the UK [and back] as/when their secondments to our business required. They were a great company to deal with and I never received any complaints from staff – so when I needed to move some of my own furniture from the UK to France [pre-Brexit, in 2018] Appleyards immediately sprung to mind…and everything was seamless, I couldn’t fault the service that we received.

Post Brexit [Feb 2024] I was much, much more concerned, mostly with the paperwork, but knew that David Appleyard had never let us down and that we would be in safe hands. David talked us through all the hoops and loops, and kept us informed every step of the way. What’s more, the driver [Wayne] that delivered to us in March 2018 was going to deliver again in February 2024. It says a lot about a company when the staff have worked with them for a long time; in Wayne’s case, very long standing, and Steve, ‘the porter’, was also into double digits with Appleyards. What a genuinely nice couple [I say couple ‘cause they live and breathe together while on the road for weeks on end] – we couldn’t have wished for a better team.

Moving your personal possessions is stressful, there is a ton of stuff going on and you’re juggling – but knowing that Britannia Appleyards are alongside makes a huge chunk of the worries go away. The staff that rock up at your house are courteous, polite, hard working, cheerful, well presented and take care of your antiques and irreplaceable memories. The way they jigsaw together everything in the lorry is mind boggling, to ensure that the vehicle is packed tightly yet carefully. Who knows what happens paperwork wise, that is another behind the scenes miracle, but out the other end you find yourself in your new house, with everything in the right place. We couldn’t have done this without them all.

We waved Wayne and Steve off at the end of a tough day, but I’m pretty sure it won’t be the last time we see them. I’m pretty confident that David Appleyard’s kids will be in charge one day –they’re not yet out of primary school – so, my advice to you the reader of this long epitaph is to forget the marginally cheaper quotes and use Britannia Appleyards. Rip everything else up and use the professionals!

I had been recommended Britannia Appleyard through another company who were unable to provide a service for our date. I contacted Britannia Appleyard on the Friday after it being confirmed that day we would be moving on the Monday. Thankfully they have availability to move us and turned up just after 9am and by 11.30am our 3 bedroom detached home was all packed. Andy and the other two men were polite ans efficient, even helping and giving advice when we had issues with the washing machine!

Andy gave me his number to update him when we received our keys. Once we had received them at 3pm, we were unloaded by 5.30pm and everything was in the room we wanted it to be in. I dread to think what would have happened if they hadn't have been available. The price quoted was very reasonable and although I don't plan on moving again, I would definitely use them again and will recommend them to everyone! Thank you for making a stressful day a lot less stressful!

This company took care of my recent house move, and from start to finish were professional, helpful, and so efficient. Every person I spoke to on the phone was lovely and friendly, and answered all my questions and worries. Marcus came to survey what was to be moved and was lovely - he went away to sort the figures and I had my quote within about 2 hours via email. I knew I was going with Britannia Appleyards, because they just were so much more professional than the other company I had spoken with. I had been recommended to them (by another company who deal with long haul moves) a few months prior so had been following their Facebook page, and liked how they came across. I paid the fee and believed that I was going to get a professional service, and I did. On the day of the move, Paul and John were my removal men, and they were lovely and chatty and friendly, and did all they could to ease the stress I was feeling. They were so hardworking, and I'm so grateful for all they did. I wouldn't hesitate to use this company again, and I'll be recommending. Thank you!

Cannot recommend highly enough, they have packed up our home onto a container bound for Perth Australia. The guys who came were really nice bunch of lads, hard working and pleasant to be around.

Price was very competitive as well!

Amazing service from Britannia Appleyards!

After my dad suffered with cancer around Christmas we moved a more comfortable recliner chair into the front room for him to sit in during his recovery.

Due to pulling a muscle in my back, we weren't able to move it back now it is no longer needed.

BA arranged a time with my mum, and came and moved it quickly and efficiently!

Thanks again on her behalf, she's over the moon with the service.

David Appleyard and his colleagues Katie and Gareth of Britannia Appleyards have been absolutely brilliant. We were recommended their services through another moving company as it was an international move. From the first phone call all the way through to the end, we were really happy with their services. They are on the ball, kept us to date throughout, managed to work with the moving dates we wanted and were really lovely to work with.
