Lovely and helpful staff, quick service. Reasonably priced too, walked away with 2 potting soil bags, 7 nursery pots, 15 bamboo sticks, a few seed packets and 1 decorative pot for just under £30.
The store is decently sized, not as big as other B&Qs. Large garden section.
HOWEVER a lot of the pots and garden decorations they have for sale are smashed and destroyed but still up for full price.

3 Stars - Helpful Staff but Hard to Navigate and Overpriced

I recently visited B&Q for some home improvement supplies and left with mixed feelings. On the plus side, a few of the staff members were genuinely helpful and went out of their way to assist me in finding specific items. Their advice was useful, and it’s clear that some employees are knowledgeable and care about customer service.

However, the layout of the store left a lot to be desired. It felt more like a maze than a retail space, and I spent far too long wandering around trying to find what I needed. Signage wasn’t clear or consistent, and even with a map on the app, it was frustratingly difficult to navigate. A more intuitive layout or better in-store directions would make a big difference.

Pricing was another downside. While B&Q has a decent range of products, many of them seemed overpriced compared to other stores and online options. For a chain of this size, I expected more competitive pricing. It’s especially disappointing when you’re doing a big project and every pound counts.

Overall, B&Q gets the job done if you need something urgently and don’t mind paying a bit more. The helpfulness of some staff was definitely a redeeming factor, but the store layout and pricing made the experience more stressful and expensive than it needed to be. It’s not my first choice, but I’d consider going back in a pinch—especially if I know exactly what I need beforehand.

Alfie was incredibly helpful from start to finish. I was confused about which light and dimmable bulb to get, but he guided me through it and even helped with everything else I needed until checkout. Great service.

If I can give it no stars, I would! Terrible customer service. I called them to ask about a product, they hung up 3 times during the call. Then when I finally reach them, they said yes, the item is in stock. But because I went to other branches for the same item already and they didn't have it in stock. One of the other branches B&Q staff had told me to make sure to call this Romford branch to make sure they have it in stock by asking them to go down the aisle and check it physically. So, I asked them 3 times to go down the aisle to check so I am not wasting my journey and the man on the phone said, yes there is more than enough and more stock that's not on the shelf. So, I made a journey to the store and ask someone to help me measure and show me how to cut the chain. The older man staff that came just didn't want to do his job because he wants to "go home". Bear in mind, there was still 20 minutes till closing time. I asked him to help me measure and he just stood there with an attitude. Without taking the whole product out of the box to help me. He kept insisting there is not enough and wasted more time. And when it came to cutting the link, he muttered under his breathe that he wants to go home.
This is such a bad experience out of all the other branches I been to today and there is literally 20 whole minutes till closing time and he can't do his job?! He is still getting paid for that 20 minutes. Ridiculous!! Now I understand why this branch has bad reviews. I wanted to give them a benefit of doubt too but Nope. Don't come to this store because they are too busy to "go home".

Went to view at the tile section. Not alot of selection available. More available online but it's a hassle to order samples. Maybe if they had more of their online selection with in store samples it would make renovating my bathroom less arduous..waiting for samples to arrive in the post delays things significantly. But I think this is the case with most of the hardware shops - online has a wider selection.

I just visited the store, I always been going to lakeside or beckton store and always hard to find staff member when need help. Today in Romford branch I been looking for flooring for my house and came across Nicola who’s been exceptional helping me pick the flooring. She’s a real credit to the store and I don’t think her manager is aware of it. People like her make shopping fun and she’s good very good listen and communication skill, I can tell she’s not there to just selling anything but trying to understand what customer is looking for and that’s rare to find these days.

Takes 10 minutes for someone to come to the Click & Collect desk. Pointless service that was meant to be created so that it’s quick. Staff were too busy chatting to each other to help, the one person who did arrive wasn’t even trained in click & collect. Definitely wouldn’t use it again.

Very bad experience and poor customer service. All those staff were white british and racist towards Asian customers. The kitchen designer Billy was very unprofessional and ordered wrong items for my kitchen. I ordered for a Integrated hob and oven but he didn't place the order for that when my kitchen arrived items was missing and he didn't even tell me he didn't ordered it. Also some.of the delivery came on different date but he didn't tell me the delivery will arrive on different date. When I was placing the order he was flirting with his colleague instead of communicating with me.professionnaly. also the girl who works there are very rude as soon as they see Asian customers. I think most of those staff were trained to be rude with Asian customers.
