It's no secret. I love our village Post Office. Being a resident in a village dubbed the Venice of the Cotswold's has definite advantages; idyllic ancient ambience and an abundance of excellent village shops, mainly, it has to be said, servicing our substantial daily visitor population.

But one establishment stands out way above the rest.

Ah me!

The primary reason for this adoration, mainly, has to be the team, ably led and inspired by the Post Mistress, Melissa Samuels. If this was an ordinary village, their service could be taken for granted. But this is anything but an ordinary village. On average, Bourton on the Water is visited by 300,000 people each year, on occasion, during peak times, this number reaching 10,000 tourists a day! The Post Office is one of the first "commercial" buildings visitors encounter walking into the village from the main Rissington Road Car Park, and, naturally the tourists are enticed through the door by the window displays, essentially an explosion of point of sale goodies that would give London West End stores a run for their money.

Melissa and her wonderful team cope with this near constant influx with grace, professionalism and a helpful cheerfulness that leaves visitors with the feeling that they are the very reason for the teams existence. When ever I pop in, I make a point of watching the often amusing transformation of the visitor from customer to village friend, leaving the premises with beaming smiles, now anxious to experience the rest of Bourton as a valued part of the village community. Just amazing to see it, and all done with seamless courtesy, quite often in the face of the visitors travel grumpiness, which is deftly banished by the Post Office teams disarmingly impressive service.

I use this post office regularly. All the staff are exceptionally friendly and efficient. They provide a wide range of services to the community, so it can be very busy, but the staff work hard to get you served quickly.

sent an iPhone from Bourton to Gloucester via post office for £120. Package was never delivered, was clearly stolen by one of their drivers company took ZERO responsibility for this. Will never use RoyalMail terrible service
