I booked with Big Yellow Colchester 2 weeks before the day I needed self storage. Went through the online form to make the reservation. After the completion it said I can come in and pay in person on the day of the booking.

The day before my booking date I went to confirm everything online, I confirmed my identity and my direct debit. To my surprise after an hour they cancelled my confirmed reservation. I tried again by calling them same thing happen twice.

I called back support to fix this issue. They told me the store is going to reach out to me to resolve the issue but never did.

I was left in a position where I’m leaving the house the next day with movers, cleaners and all parties coming in and without a place to store my belongings.

I couldn’t find anything at the last moment as it was already the afternoon. I had to pay 3x the amount to finally manage something by the neck of time.

I would say they have most unprofessional business ethics. I understand logistical issues but least let the other person know in due time so that they can find or manage alternatives. If you did mess up then at least be straightforward or even be sorry about it.

They just don’t care. I would say if you value yourself, stay away!!!
