Use the 81 bus into town frequently. Usually the drivers are brilliant, stop in Coombe Vale Rd ( no dedicated stop ) and are usually so helpful and drop us off on the Corner of Coombe Vale. However, you have one obnoxious driver....no name mentiond bur C ***s who is is so unfriendly and unhelpful. Every other driver will happily drop passengers off at the end of Coombe Vale as it doesn't cause any problem to traffic. He refuses to do this and will only drop off at the end of 4th Avenue , which means a 20 minute walk back to Coombe Vale . He is such a discredit to you. Incidentally, his argument can't be that there's not a dedicated stop as there's none in Coombe Vale going into town. Also, he's frequently early so means that people often miss the bus. He's not an ambassador for you

took a short ride on the 149 in Torquay, our driver was the grumpiest bus driver in the country and I have met a few. I asked for help as I didnt know the area and he hardly looked up from his mobile phone. he was no help at all. others on the bus told me that driver is always like that but the other drivers were much better.

Live near the hospital and use the 75 on a weekly basis, most of the time see Sean there and back into town for shopping. Every driver is always pleasant and chatty in particular Sean who is amazing!
So thank you to the team and Sean!

Absolutely disgraceful service if I could give less than 1 star I would!!!!

My 1.5 year old daughters head was slammed into a metal bracket and left her with bruising and needed a hospital visit.

The driver had head phones in at the time (illegal!!) and didn't notice the traffic slowing in front as he was too busy messing with his MP3 player and had to slam his breaks on at last minute causing my daughters pram to fly forwards into the metal bracket at the front that adjoins onto the disabled bar for wheel chair users.

There were also several other people hurt, one other being a 5 year old who's head was also smashed off the grab rail on the back of the seats, a older lady had also hurt her knee. And a 2 year old that was sat in the pram area in her pram also hit her head off of the side of the seat. I will also add this was on a school run with just women and children on board (apart from myself).

After visiting the hospital I called country bus to log a complaint with the company. I was told on the phone the complaint had already been logged, when I asked who by the guy on the phone told me the driver had told them.

I said I wanted to complain and he sighed and said "ugggh OK, looks like we are going to have to do this the right way!" I was disgusted and quite simply shocked at the attitude I was given. They didn't even bother to ask if my daughter was ok!!
After leaving my details country bus said they will send me a complaint form, 2 weeks later and I'm still waiting and so are the 2 other people that phoned on the same day to complain, utter disgrace!!

I was advised to call them back and request the cctv footage as it only stays recorded for 48hrs on there system and then is deleted. I was told quite bluntly after calling back on the same day that there was no cctv on that bus. After questioning them why there are camera's the lady told me they are not on (oh how convenient!!!).

I have logged with the police and have a log number, the police said I have to take the complaint form to the station to fill out, but the company hasn't even bothered to send any complaint forms to the 3 members of public that have complained and asked for them. I presume they think they can get away with gross misconduct and endangering passengers?!!!

This isn't the first time something like this has happened and funny enough it was the same driver!

If this is how country bus treat there customers then I really hope no one else has the misfortune we/my 1.5 year old went through.

When someone gets hurt next time they might not be so lucky! And all due to the total lack of concentration of the driver and total lack of after-care towards there customers.

I'm totally gobsmacked by this terrible company and won't be using them again!!!
Shocking!!!!

Only given 1 star as I can't give zero. Today I arrived at the first Clampitt Road bus stop in Ipplepen, 10 minutes early. I phoned Country bus to see if the bus service was running, due to the landslip near Totnes, and was told that it was running between Ipplepen and Newton Abbot. At 8.06am the bus still hadn't come. I rang Country bus again, the operator who was very nice, said that he would try and locate the bus. He rang me back, to tell me that the female driver was in Newton Abbot! She had bypassed the first two stops in Clampitt Road and just waited at the Wellington Inn. There was nothing about this on the bus website or facebook. So, at 60 years old, I had to walk almost 2 miles to work on a flooded dangerous main road.
Same thing happened today, 26 October 2020. Bus broke down, rang office, several times, told that the bus was on its way. Didn't turn up, as the driver had decided not to go into Ipplepen!!! I was late for work, the first time in 14 years and lost a hours pay. When the schools went back, I went on the morning bus, 3 times but didn't feel safe, as full of school kids, most not wearing masks or social distancing. So have only been able to use this bus Saturdays, or if I'm going to Totnes. So I thought, great, I can get the first bus during half term, but I can't depend on getting to work. I'm working in Newton Abbot, the next two days but will get the 7 bus instead

Far far to expensive for a scuffed up tin can with rattle-y windows. For my 10/15 min drive, from one town to another, they charge £2.55 for a CHILD. Idiotic. The prices may be cheaper elsewhere, I’m not sure. They overcharge us because there is no competition where I live (it is not in a remote place at all, btw) even though they must make enough money not to because it’s always packed up to the brim.

Oh they are often late. And the busses smell like cigarettes.

They also don’t display prices clearly. It used to be that a return could work out cheaper than a single to the same place?

They also have no one place for information for when busses aren’t running. I couldn’t find any information on any social media or website so I had to phone. This disgruntled man picked up and informed me that it wasn’t running because that morning they decided it was too snowy. I phoned around 10am so they could have posted it somewhere in that time.

Some of the bus drivers are lovely, really down-to-earth, friendly people, but some are just rude.
