The new slimline bin collection doesn't work for our family. As conscientious recyclers, we follow the rules every week. Can't fit everything recyclable in the blue bin and new rules regarding sacks and blue boxes means a journey to the nearest Dump every couple of weeks. Thanks EFDC

This is not a democratic well run local Government institution. Residents are effectively banned from expressing their concerns. Services are very few and badly run.
The Council seems to be run by and employ incompetent people, but this doesn’t stop them from paying themselves well. I wonder what it feels like to take taxpayers’ money and not doing a half decent job?

Incompetent liars, make sure you keep all receipts as they make false claims but when proof is shown they blame computer errors. You get different answers from different people for the same question and that's if you are lucky to get through to someone on the phone. The roads are dirty and paths full of dog waste. This area used to be nice until the pandemic hit and new people moved in changing it too fast. Are you on the housing waiting list ? If so don't get your hopes up especially if on band c waiting for a 2 bedroom property. The wait will be many years as the new system which isn't fair at all don't care how long you been on the list it only care about your medical needs. The system they had before the change was much better but now you are punished for not having a medical issue. It don't matter to them if you have a adult sharing with a room with a child under the age of 10,Apparently that's fine. Just for context we have been bidding for a 2 bedroom properties for 12 years and NOT ONCE have we come in the top 20 position. Massive changes are needed at this council they are stuck in the past.

A Christmas Miracle!
I was contacted by Karen Smith from the housing/rent department, who informed me that I had been overpaying my rent for some time as I had become a pensioner and was now in receipt of housing benefit, and was now entitled to have that overpayment refunded!

Absolute disgrace. EFDC a bunch of corrupt thieves. No concern at all for its tax payers. There is no point ever appealing or disputing plans etc as the decisions had already been made months ago. Public opinions and common sense do not come in to any decisions these awful people make.

Absolutely awful, no help at all. The large development on Borders Lane Fairview Homes site has taken away any privacy I had because two 3 storey town houses have been constructed within 28m of my property. The council distance themselves from all of this because they didn’t grant planning permission for this overdevelopment. Having said that they are the local council and if they had any thought for the locals who pay their wages you would think they would try to consider any issues….but they don’t. If they could appreciate that all I’m asking for is that Fairview Homes could be asked to plant some adequately high trees to provide adequate screening, but they won’t. My wife and I are in our 70’s and what we thought was our forever home for the last 28 years is now up for sale. The only concern is that they can look forward to all the council tax they will get from the new residents that they can spend on giving themselves huge salary increases.

Planning Department totally unresponsive. They hide behind email and it's impossible to talk to an actual person. Once you email them, if they decide to reply they do, but most times they totally ignore you and send no response. Even if they can't help i would expect them to say so - ignoring people (who basically pay their wages) is the height of ignorance.
