3 friends and I stayed at Shorelands while walking the St Magnus Way. The walk was wonderful, with beautiful views and fascinating history at every turn. Shorelands was an ideal location for our 6 night stay, and Orcadians Nicky and Kirsten were the perfect hosts. They ensured we had the best possible experience throughout, from the initial booking through seamless transitions at our journeys to and from the island, and on our daily walks. They were consistently helpful, flexible, friendly and generous. Accommodation was comfortable and clean, and breakfasts and packed lunches delicious. Totally recommend!!

Three friends and I stayed at Shorelands when we were walking the St Magnus Way and the accommodation and hosting was perfect. We were met at the airport by Nicky who couldn't have been more helpful in terms of local information and he drove us to and from our start/finish points each day. Nothing was too much trouble.
The rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the breakfast and packed lunches were excellent.
Some individual touches to our stay made it special so if you plan to stay here you certainly won't be disaponted.

Nicky and Kirsten are amazing hosts and this is a perfect location for walking the St Magnus Way as Nicky provides transport every day to the start and from the end of the walk section. As a tour guide, he can share all kinds of local information and advice. Rooms are comfortable and a delicious breakfast (try the porridge) is included, as well as a generous packed lunch made to order. This is the best B&B I have ever stayed in and would highly recommend Shorelands for your visit to Orkney.

Nicky’s Shorelands Orkney is a fabulous place to stay. We stayed April 9-April 15 2025. He’s a fabulous host. He makes doing the St Magnus Way hike so easy w/great breakfasts, lunches, & a lift to and from the trail + a dram at end of day. His knowledge of Orkney is an added bonus. His rooms are spacious and modern. Shorelands Orkney’s proximity to downtown Kirkwall add to the charm. In my opinion look no further. I’ll be a repeat customer when we return to Orkney.

Nikki’s Shorelands Orkney is a terrific place and stay while in Orkney because of its proximity to downtown Kirkwall - only 1/2 mile walk down the hill.
If you’re hiking the St Magnus Way - Nikki’s Shorelands Orkney is a such a value with breakfast, a sack lunch for each day’s hike, and transportation to and from each hike makes the entire hiking experience so wonderful.
Nikki is so welcoming, thoughtful and a fabulous host and very knowledgeable of Orkney and its history.
Shorelands Orkney is spotlessly clean and each room very comfortable, well furnished, &!roomy. As a guest you feel like you’re in your own home.

If you’re considering a trip to Orkney - Shorelands Orkney would be the perfect place to stay.

We loved everything about our (too brief) stay at Shorelands Orkney! Our room was lovely and so accommodating, and we enjoyed their lounge every evening too. It's such welcoming environment.
Booking with them allowed us to visit the sites we were most interested in seeing, without having a rental car. Nicky met us at the ferry terminal, and took us under his wing. He made sure we knew how to get around locally, even on the days we weren't touring with him.
He was a wonderful host and guide! Having grown up there, he has a wealth of information, and an evident love of Orkney. We ended up wishing we were staying longer at Shorelands!

Perfect gem! I trekked the St Magnus Way with great support from Nicky at Shorelands. His B&B was wonderful, from meals, to room/bed, to friendly guest environment, to location. Excellent in every way. Nicky was extraordinary in his guidance and support for trekking the Orkneys. Immense knowledge of islands' history, geography and island culture. Invaluable help and hospitality. Best of all Scotland B&Bs in my 325 miles of trekking-and many were outstanding. Nicky made the pilgrimage perfect.

I would like to highly recommend Shorelands to anyone looking for an accommodation in Kirkwall for holiday or a business trips. ||The B&B is run by Nicky and his family, who made us feel very welcomed, gave us great tips for food, travel and shared a lot of local knowledge. Nicky and Kirsten ensured we had everything we needed during our stay, and as our plans for travel changed last minute, they made sure we could stay for an extra night. ||Shorelands offers very comfortable accommodation in lovely rooms and it comes with great cooked breakfasts to set us up for the day. ||When we return to Kirkwall, there is no doubt whatsoever that we will stay again at Shorelands.
