Lazy rude staff that can't be bothered to do their job, they could do with courses in customer service. Went in to get a passport for my child, had all the documents etc as per the gov website, because she couldn't be bothered she was like no you need your birth certificates too or the system will not let me process it (absolute bs because we read the gov website inside out she just couldn't be bothered). This was after queuing for a substantial amount of time, the branch itself looks just as run down as the staff do and it is grubby and always has massive queues. This is not the first time we have had negative experiences with this branch, but this one was the icing on the cake, avoid if you can and use ones in the villages if you have access to them.

Very good as a whole this seems. Excellent! Thank you.
And I would definitely recommend going to and using this local Post Office.
The real bonus here is that they combine personal service at the tills with having at least two working self service machines and at which one can buy stamps and with cash also.
Just work through a brief menu and out they are printed come.
Modern and traditional working hand in hand . Very good impressed!

And...

I felt I had to thank the very pleasant older local ladies staff behind the counter. Unusual to find such a good working Post Office to such a level..and shows how it can still be so.

They were also dealing with a slightly awkward fellow pressing a point, without knowing or accepting what he needed to do so.
But the two ladies, in an exemplary way then in which they kept calm but strong and with the sympathy too. Which all led to the customer understanding and accepting what he had to do so very swiftly enough and the queue was not held up . And he departed thankful and understanding the matter in peace.

Very good!! and thanks!! this seems to be a real example of how Post Offices can work and remain in the high street in a sustainable way paying their way and providing the service our society still finds as key for our lives and concerns at 2024. !!! ...?

I can recommend though !: that there is a clear notice up telling customers that stamps can be bought and with cash too on one or more of the, ... if the machines are up and working well as they were when I called in.... excellent!
A lady was unclear that she could buy stamps from the machine , as I was.. ....but once tried it was excellent good and just had to work through to press a few correct options... and hey presto ! Done .

One of the worst staff - Angela. Absolutely slow, rude and Queue gets adding up. No compassion for people standing in the queue as she is attending customer for too long even when he understands it is getting busier. Normally, all the other staff as well I guess don’t show up and just spoiling the reputation for Barnsley Post Office. It would have been better if I posted my letter from any different post office

I went into Barnsley post office to get a new passport,Trish served me she did everything for me and explained it all to me,she didn't rush me and let me do things at my own pace, very helpful cashier,

I went to renew my driving licence, I had tried to contact the P. O. to find out if there was any need to book an appointment and what needed to be filled in but contacting them is impossible, I went, waited my turn and was served by a surly gentleman who said we only check them, when I inquired about the photograph he said go outside and use the machine. I only went there after reading the reviews, did I just drop unlucky or has the staff changed since the reviews.

They have both given me clear and helpful Information on Travel insurance and travel money which I have now purchased from the Post Office solely because of their friendly and helpful manner and the time they have spent with me.
